Ready? Then you are already on your way!
Once you have had your RI&E and the Action Plan reviewed, it is time to start work on the execution of your Action Plan. In the Action Plan, you set out who was going to do what and within which term. There was good reason for drawing up the plan, so get cracking! The prevention worker will take the lead here as well.
Keep your Action Plan handy
It is a good idea to inspect your Action Plan and review its progress regularly, at least once a year. Have the agreements you made been fulfilled? Have any new matters been brought to light that you might need to incorporate into your Action Plan? Take a good look at the causes of any accidents or sick leave, for instance. Perhaps they require new measures or they give more priority to the plans you had already made.
It is also sensible to have your Action Plan handy if you are thinking of making new investments or changes to your processes. Perhaps you could prevent certain risks while you are at it, killing two birds with one stone. Besides, your Action Plan gives you better insight into the costs and benefits of each measure, so you can make a well-thought through decision when choosing from the alternatives.
Keep your RI&E up-to-date
If you make any large changes to your business, you will need to adjust your RI&E too. New machines, new processes, a reorganisation, a new location? Changes to your business mean adjustments to the RI&E. You will need to make a new inventory of the risks involved in your organisation. At the same time, you should review the measures you have already implemented. If everything is going according to plan, the risks you have dealt with should be lower. If that is not the case, you will, of course, want to know that too.
That means if you have finished your (first) RI&E, you made a start – a start with improving the safety and health in your company. And you never finish improving it!
If you have any substantive questions about the risks in your sector, please get in touch with your sector association. The contact details can be found on the same page as your RI&E instrument.
